My Great Great Grandfather John C woolley came to San Francisco (SF) ABT 1870. He Married Katherine Vance in SF in 1871 and they had one child at least, John Cyrus Woolley (my Great Grandfather. My father and I have been researching as we do not know what happened to the first John C. Woolley which imigrated to the US,the story is that in the late 1870's he left his family and marriage to Katherine and went north, but we do not know. Katherine remarried to Wallace. WE do not know any additional family info except for a letter I have in my possesion written in 1870.
Letter written while John was still in SF and prior to his marrage to Catherine. Written from John C Woolley's mother "Sarah" on Sept 26 1870 from England. Address 34 Wood Street, Brook street, manchester England. Name references in the letter are discussed from Sarah to John as: Aunt Betsy, Uncle and Aunt Fairhurst on #11 Runcorn St?, Aunt Caroline and Uncle George. Aunt Margert and Daughter Eliza, Uncle James and Aunt Eliza, cousin John Fairurst and cousin Ellen. Any assistance in finding what happened to John C Woolley or help locating family from Manchester would be greatly appreciated.Scott Woolley
