When I was first researching the connection to Cardinal Wolsey many years back I read an old biography on the cardinal in Mid Continent Library, Independence, Mo. According to the book Ms. Larke married a friend of the Cardinal's, a man by last name of Wynter. According to the book, the Cardinal and Ms. Larke did indeed have children but it only listed two. A boy Thomas Wynter and daughter Dorothy who was sent to be raised by nuns. I don't think either children were said to be named Wolsey. It also said that the cardinal financed Thomas schooling as the role similar to that of an "uncle". It also said that at the cardinal's death bed, the cardinal requested Thomas presense and Thomas chose not to appear. I will see if this book is still at the library and review again what it says that may affect this lineage. But in all truth, I have never heard before that they had a son William, this is a first for me. I would think that would have been a fact listed in the biography which it wasn't. I will try to find out more on this, if there was a son William then that could change the way many of us view the Cardinal Wolsey connection. Many of us believe he is not direct lineage because of the fact his illigetimate children did not carry Woolsey name. May I ask if you have info as to why William carried Woolsey name when other two did not? The Cardinal is an age old mystery that is always cropping up in the search by Woolsey genealogists. I followed it for many years because a great-aunt of mine had listed him as our direct descendant (without a shred of documentation of proof) in her genealogy research. And here I am some 30-odd years of research later and I still have not found proof that the Cardinal is my direct ancestor. Do you have any other info to support this son William's existance, birth info, baptism, etc.? It would be helpful in backtracking this new tidbit. I'll post more Cardinal/children info as soon as I get to library to look at the book again. Welcome to the search and have fun with it.
