Janelle Maybe you can help me too.I have been trying to find the parents of Thomas M. Word, b. 4 Dec 1827 in Marshall/Madison co. AL.He shows up in the 1850 Census:
1850 Census of Marshall Co., AL pg 181 ln 30 Thos Word 25 M Carpenterb. Ala in the residence of Thos Flewellen carpenter.
He also shows up in the marriage records: Word, Thomas to Rayburn, Martha1853 NOV 051853 NOV 06M. Gilbreath49 Nov 23, 1853Married in Gunterville on 6 Nov 1853 by Judge Gilbreath, Mr. Thomas Word to Miss Martha Rayburn.Pub. in the Southern Advocate, Huntsville, AL.
If this is my Thomas this must be a first wife that died between 1853 and 1857, as he shows up in Franklin Par.LA in 1857 mar. Semantha Wiggins.I can trace him through several census' after that.
Could he be a son of China Word? And who was China Word's husband?
