I have some information which I collected when I thought Jane and Elizabeth were sisters of my ancestor. There was not a lot to be found on William. Most references listed his birth as 1779.Even though his death is shown as March 27, 1814 at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, I never did confirm that. The national park website only shows the rosters for the 39th Infantry and Tennessee MilitiaRolls.William's name wasn't in either listing.I'm not certain where those who died were buried.I never did find any mention of his wife. There was more on his daughters, and this is what I found.....
Jane Word - b. 31 Dec 1806,,probably SC; d.12 Feb 1869* (29 Dec 1870*); married Edward "Neddie" Dodd when she was only 20 years old - 1826.He was born in 1778, making him around her father's age. *There were references to her being killed in a steamboat explosion on Caddo Lake in Jefferson, Marion County, Texas. However, the date on her marker is the 1870 date which would be well over a year's difference.I was unable to determine which was correct. The steamboat was the "Mittie Stephens" which made regular roundtrips between New Orleans and Jefferson, Texas via the Mississippi and Red rivers and Cypress Bayou. It had setout on February 5, 1869 and seven days later was steaming into Caddo Lake, which spans Louisiana and Texas.According to most reports, there were 107 passengers and crew on board. The boat didn't actually explode, but burned. There were bales of hay on board which apparently caught fire. The boat burned to the waterline and 61 people perished.I found one place where a listing was made of those who died and those who were saved.Jane's name wasn't shown, but there was a discrepancy in the number who died.
She and Edward had the following children: Willis Henderson Dodd b. 28 Dec 1827 Union Co. SC Lucinda Briggs Dodd b. 3 Aug 1829 Union Co. SC Jesse J. Dodd b. 29 Oct 1831 Fayette Co. GA Louisa Catherine Dodd b. Feb 1835 Fayette Co. GA Susanna M. Dodd b. 17 Jan 1841 Fayette Co. GA Calvin Warner Dodd b. 7 Apr 1844 Fayette Co. GA
Jane was buried in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery, Texarkana, Miller County, AR.Edward died in 1862 in Clayton County, GA.I think Jane had either moved to Arkansas to be near her youngest son or else had made the trip to visit.
Elizabeth Harriett Word b. 24 Dec 1808, probably SC, d. 16 Mar 1883 Clayton Co. GA; buried at Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery, Riverdale, Clayton Co, GA; married John Sample Dodd in 26 Oct 1828; they had 11 children
John Sample Dodd was son of Edward Dodd.He married his step mother Jane's sister.
I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but I hope it helps.
