My aunt Mary Work Torrey apparently did some genealogy work quite some time ago 1920s or 30's at the New York Library.She located this clipping and found it of interest, as her father's name was Samuel Dewitt Work.I have, of course tried to follow up on this connection but so far have found my branch of the Work family living in Tennessee and Kentucky and no connection further back to John and Sarah Work.

London, Aug 24 - The engagement of Ruth Gill daughter of Colonel W. S. Gill of Bieldsidy, Aberdeen, Scotland, to Lord Edmond, member of parliament was announced by Brides parents - Wedding to take place Sept. 17. Bridegroom son of late James Boothby, Burke Roche, Baron Fermoy.He graduated from Harvard 1909 and became a British subject on inheriting the title from his father.
Edmond Maurice Roche, fourth Baron Fermoy is elder of twin sons born to the late James Boothby Burke Roche, 3rd Baron Fermoy, who married in Sept. 1880 Ms. Frances Work, daughter of Frank Work, a New York broker.They were divorced in 1891.
Lord Fermoy lived in the U. S. until he assumed title on the date of his father who had a few months previously inherited it from his brother, the late Edward FitzEdmund Burke Roche, 2nd Baron Fermoy.He is a member of Parliament from Kings Lynn Division of Norfolk.Mrs. Guy Fairfax Gary of this city, the former Hon Cynthia Burke Roche, is his sister, first cousin of S. D. Work.
