Workman sampler from 1724
In the mid 1980's I copied down these details from a sampler prepared by Mary Workman in 1724. I am pretty sure it is English in origin.
The sampler belonged to a Miss Lilian Dunn, who died at Melbourne, Australia, in 1966.
I do not know whether it had passed down through her family, or it was something she simply acquired. I suspect that it was a family item.
Her paternal grandparents came from Glostershire, her maternal ones from Jersey, in the Channel Islands.
I reproduce it exactly as it appears.
Is anyone able to make any sense of this?
