My 4G Grandparents were Joseph WRIDE (b. circa 1758) and Ann Page WRIDE (b. circa 1756), who were married at Brent Knoll, Somerset (also know as South Brent, Somerset) on 24th August, 1786.I haven't been able to find the parents of either of them, and wonder if any other researchers can help?
Joseph and Ann had nine children that I have discovered to date:
Elizabeth WRIDE, bap. 20th June, 1791, Brent Knoll
Jenny WRIDE, bap. 19th May, 1793, Brent Knoll
Joseph WRIDE (1), bap. 15th February, 1795, Brent Knoll
James WRIDE, bap. 20th November, 1796, Brent Knoll
Joseph WRIDE (2), bap. 14th October, 1798, Brent Knoll; died 1806
Charles WRIDE, bap. 12th October, 1800, Brent Knoll (but born 1796 from age at census)
George WRIDE, bap. 22nd May, 1803, Brent Knoll
Ann WRIDE, bap. 16th January, 1806
Joanah WRIDE, bap. 10th October, 1808, Brent Knoll; died 1809
Charles WRIDE (above) was my 3G Grandfather.He later moved to Wedmore, Somerset.I haven't been able to find a marriage for him, but his wife is listed in the 1851 census of Wedmore as Jane, as follows;
WRIDE Charles 55 Agricultural Lab, South Brent, Som.
Jane 50 Stoll Somerset
William 11 Scholar Wedmore, Som.
John 9 Scholar Wedmore, Som.
Elizabeth 14 Wedmore, Som.
As you can see, Jane's place of birth is given as "Stoll".I have yet to discover where this is - perhaps Stowell, or Stawell, or maybe even Bristol!Their daughter, Elizabeth, aged 12 at the time of the 1851 census, went on to marry William HEMBURY, and was my 2G Grandmother.
I would be so grateful for any information that may help to further my research into this family, and I am, of course, very happy to share whatever information I have with other researchers.
