Any Burial info?
To: john woodard Subject: Re: Wrightsman. Hi John, I found Elizabeth Wrightsman's maiden name when I took a trip down to the Morgan County Public Library in Martinsville, Indiana. This information was found in their genealogy section where I believe they had a file about the Overton family. It is from an obituary of my 3rd great-grandfather Willis Overton. It stated that Willis was born Jan 4, 1852 and was the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Bryant Overton. The information about where Elizabeth was buried is from a book compiled by the WPA in 1940 entitled Morgan County, Indiana Cemeteries. It gave a short description of where it was located, a scale drawing of each cemetery in the county, nearby roads, and if any veterans were buried there. The Overton cemetery was a 45 ft by 15 ft cemetery in the SE quarter of the SE quarter of Section 8, T12N R1E, near the junction of SR 39 and SR 67. No veterans were buried there. I also know that Elizabeth is buried in the Overton Cemetery because her son Willis said that his mother was buried there in an article from the Martinsville Reporter dated June 11, 1936. This was found in the Cemeteries file at the Morgan County Public Library. This information I believe was given to me by another very helpful genealogist named Dale Drake.
Reply DO you have any reference for this?I knew Elizabeth was born in 1810in Ohio and gave birth to first son JOhn Wrightsman in Ky ( Unable to find him anywhere)I had thought she moved to Illinios with Jesse Overton, but if she is buried in Morgan Co Ind then likely she died before Jesse moved.I too found Jesse in 1870 Coles Co Ill census with other wife Margret and Nancylisted as 30 yrs. I have to assume the children took name of Overton or census taker made error. I have other Family that this happened to in 1850 in Alabama Thanks again and if you think of anything I hope you remember me.
