THE MARCH TERM OF THE DISTRICT COURT IN SESSION. ----------------------
On account of a wreck at Promise City, Judge Vermillion did not arrive in Chariton until late Monday evening. Court did not convene till eight o'clock and then, only as a form, as no lawyers were present.
On Tuesday morning court opened and the following cases were disposed of:
Criminal -- The charge standing so long against LIZ. SHAMBURG was dismissed on motion of county attorney, and LIZ. is now free from this charge.
The charge against GRANT SHELTON was dismissed on the motion of the county attorney. This case had been tried twice and both times a hung jury gave him his freedom.
Law -- W.C. PENICK vs. L.N. EDSON et al settled and dismissed.
W.C. PENICK vs. J.I. ANDERSON, judgment; against H.L. BYERS, continued as to ANDERSON.
Two permits to sell liquors were granted for a period of two years, one to DR. DOUGHERTY, the west side druggist; the other to A.J. METTLIN, one of the Russell druggists.
S.O. FENDERSON vs. the Iowa State Ins. Co., settled and dismissed.
A.J. WOODMAN vs. G.L. RUMBLE, settled and dismissed.
FRANKIE THOMPSON vs. R.T. MCNEIL, a judgment for nine dollars.
In the two cases of L.T. RAMSEY vs. BERT JAMES et al judgment was rendered for plaintiff.
W.J. HUGHES vs. C.B. & Q. R.R. Co. dismissed.
Probate -- Estate of CECIL MCKINLEY minor, order approving the purchase of real estate signed.
Estate of HENRY JUDD, dec'd, report of sale approved.
Will of S.M. REAM, dec'd, admitted to probate, with T.M. STUART executor.
Will of MARY R. GRIMES admitted to probate, HENRY M. ROLLINS executor.
Estate of ZEDDIE WILTSEY, the report of the administrator approved; J.A. PENICK appointed temporary administrator to examine and to pass upon claim of W.L. WERTS.
