Rachael: Here is a quote from a web page that shows "The Braille Monitor" Vol. 32, No. 10dated October 1989. This is published by the National Federation of the Blind, based in Baltimore. I don't know Lillian's birth name or whether she was previously married. I don't know if this Lillian Wyer is the one you are looking for or not. The web page is: http://www.nfb.org/Images/nfb/Publications/bm/bm89/brlm8910.htmhttp://www.nfb.org/Images/nfb/Publications/bm/bm89/brlm8910.htm
To Quote: " **Elected:
"We are informed that the following people were recently elected to office in the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania: President, Haydn Wyer; Vice President, Lou McCarthy; Secretary, Joan Myers Goodman; Treasurer, Celia Fowler; and Board Members: Lillian Wyer, Larry Bush, and Judy Williams."
Haydn Wyer was named for the composer, Joseph Haydn. He married first my Aunt, Julia Phillips Verner and had a daughter, Judith Wyer. My Aunt Julia died in 1962, and my uncle Haydn remarried to Lillian within a year or two in about 1963. My uncle Haydn was blind in one eye. He suffered an injury from serving in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade that sought to free Spain from NAZI domination before WW-2. Haydn was a printer and printed braille. Lillian was totally blind since she was a child. They both worked tirelessly toward helping the blind. They lived in Philadelphia. Haydn is now deceased, and I don't know if Lillian is still living. The daughter, Judy, from Haydn's first marriage is still living and probably knows a great deal more. If she is still living, Lillian would most likely be still living in the Philadelphia area.
