Hi - I was interested in your posting (11 years ago!) as I'm researching the Brewton family of Tattnall and Bulloch Counties, Georgia.
The patriarch Nathan Brewton, Sr., was engaged in a series of legal disputes with Elisha Wiley, apparently beginning in August 1831 with Elisha placing an order with W. & G. Waters, Merchants, in Savannah on behalf of Nathan Brewton, charging the items with payment due in 30 days.
William and George Waters sued Nathan in Tattnall County Superior Court for payment but Brewton argued successfully that he held no note and that any moneys owed was from Wiley.
Wiley received land in the 1832 land lottery in Floyd County, Brewton sued him in Floyd County as well.
Is Phillip related to Elisha, and do you have any information on him and possibly his dispute with Brewton?I'm happy to share what info. I have. Thanks!
