If you are talking about the Arkansas Wyllies, then your ggrandfather's name on the birth registration was Peter.By the time they arrived in Canada, it had changed to Patrick.
I have a ton of stuff on the family.I do believe though that your dad or aunt's should know more of the Family lore.
My grandfather was Charles, the oldest of the children that came over from Scotland. He died in 1914 in Shreveport.
My grandmother moved to Michigan where her family lived. I have e-mailed some information to Wendy Ward and some pictures to Bridget Cohen. They are descended from the Jansens. Also Dorothy Jansen has compiled a book which has several pages devoted to the Wyllies.
Is your grandfather Dr. James Wyllie? If so, I remember him talking about going to Scotland and seeing the family estate.I have been trying to pin down where it was located.Do not believe the legend of Alexander Wyllie being Lord Dunlop.I have already tried that route even going to the Lord Lion who is in charge of giving out titles in Scotland.
What I do believe is that Alexander's family owned land which was situated on the Dunlop Estate. When the children visited relatives there, they saw Dunlop House and described it as a castle. It was until about 1840.It still is humungous.
Let me know if I am talking about the right family and I'll see about getting the information I have accumulated on the family.
Also, if I have the right family, ask your aunt Kathleen what she remembers what her father told her.I have found that although the tales are exaggerated, there is always a hint of truth.
