Russell Yake b. Ontario 1882ca, married 23 Nov. 1904 in Ubly, Saginaw, Michigan to Ruby Proper age 18 of Ubly, she was born in Ontario, Can. also. Her parents are George Proper and Nellie Compton. His parents Michael Yake and Sophia Cameron. This is found in Michigan Marriages 1868-1925. Go to the LDS site, click on "search" and choose the "pilot" search site; you can print the page in the record book where this is found.
Witnesses were Cecil Proper of Ubly and Goldie Thomton?sp of Deckerville. They were married by C.W. Hubbard, Pastor of the M.E. Church. Russell is most likely related to Michael Yake who lived in Sanilac County in 1870.
There was a Michael Yake b. 1847 who died 5 Oct 1917 in Stouffville, York, Ontario who was son of John and Susan (Long) Yake. Don't know if that is the same person as above.
Are you searching for your connection back to Daniel and Mary (Nicely) Yake? If not, let us know who you're looking for. I'm a Knisley/Nicely descendant, but not Yake. Get in touch with Don Brown at this site, as he can probably help with details.
Daniel Yake and Mary Nicely had a son Michael b. 26 Mar 1795 Philadelphia, PA. who died 31 May 1877 in Lexington, Sanilac, MI, who married 1815 to Jane Vanzandt. He probably is the one above in 1870 Sanilac Census. Another son of Daniel Yake and Mary Nicely is Gabriel b. 1790 Phila. PA. Also: brother to Gabriel and Michael, Hiram, b. 1787, Phila. PA. I haven't seen a Russell.
Your Russell may be a great grandson of Michael b. 1795, judging by the birthdate; just don't know by which son. It gets a bit confusing as so many Yake came to Mich. via Ontario, from PA. Then they married into the same families, so the names just keep repeating themselves. The Yake also tended to have a dozen children, so good luck, but hang in there.
