I looked again at the faint name on the back. The two names, Mary Yancy, are all that is there. Actually the light is different this time of year and easier to see. The handwriting has a slight backwards slant, very concise, well-formed letters. It is not the old curvy handwriting I am used to seeing on some of the census pages but rather like printing turned into cursive. I am not familiar with all writing methods of the past but perhaps someone is and can help pinpoint the decade. But also we don't know by whom and when the writing was added.
