You are right, of course. I thought your mesage was a reply to one some time ago mentioning the Richardson connection. My mistake. The family Yarranton-yarington, however, seems to have been in Astley for the first hundred or so years of its history, spreading toward London in the 18th cent. Ward's notes lists all recorded up to about 1775. Theory is that the name derives from someone from Yarhampto in the 15-16th Cent., although the name is found in old English.
