Greg - Another possible connection.Another marriage record my aunt found was: "Marriage Records 1649-1840 Cumberland County, Virginia
Aurilla Yarrington m. Henry Page 19 Dec 1827; Surety: Albert Yarrington
dau. of Alfred Yarrington, who consents Page 100
What is interesting to me is that the father is Alfred Yarrington, the same name as my gg grandfather.I have not been able to determine who Arana/Arianna Yarrington's husband was. She appears as head of household in 1810 in Essex co. VA, and 1820 & 1830 in Cumberland Co.The 1820 census lists 2 females between 10-16 and one between 16 and 26.The boys are listed as 1 between 0-10, 1 between 10-16, & 1 between 16-18 (my gg grandfather, Alfred, perhaps).
Just some possibilities....
As far as the Spears side of the family is concerned, the only clue I have is the Powhatan place of marriage between Alfred & Elizabeth, and a mention that Elizabeth's mother's name is Sarah.
Both of my parents and I were born in Richmond, VA and I will be much interested in what you find when you visit.
Best regards,
Margaret
