YEAGLEY FAMILY MET LAST WEEK Descendants of William Yeagley Spent His Birthday With Him On Sunday, Nov. 16, were gathered together the children and grand-children of William and Margaret Yeagleyto assist the former in the celebration of his eightieth birth-day.
There were present out of a family of 48, just 28 of us, children, grand and great-grand-children, 10 being too far away and others prevented by sickness or the condition of the roads. Those present were:Mr. and Mrs. John Donley and daughters, Madge and Alice; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lee and daughter, Margaret;Miriam Tharp; Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Conkey and three children, Bina, Nada and Maurice;W. S. Yeakley and son, Richard;Mr. and Mrs. John Winn, of Defiance; Mrs. Mary Yeagley,Mr. and Mrs. Guy Yeagley and son, Franklin;Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Yeagley and daughter, Eleanor, all of Ney, and Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Cunningham.
The sun shone out for us after a week of cloudy days, and hid his face from us for several days after, so we felt heaven had smiled upon our thus meeting together. The house was decorated in yellow and red chrysanthemums and in the center of the bountifully spread table was a birthday cake alightwith 80 candles. There was joy and feasting and all were “merry as a marriage bell” until a late hour when we wended our ways to our several homes, feeling it hadbeen very good to be together and leaving father feeling as he said, “five years younger.”
Surely these family meetings must be a foretaste of our gatherings in heaven when together with those gone before we shall reunite without loss of one. M. B. C. - from The Bryan Press, Bryan, Ohio; November 27, 1913
