Henry Yearick, son of Simon Yearick was commissioned as a Justice of the Peace on 4 Jun 1810 and was later appointed Justice by Gov. McKean on 26 Mar 1813 when Union County was formed from Northumberland County. At that time, the Grand Jury of Union County was held in Henry’s home.He charged the County $4.00 rent for the three sessions, Sep and Dec terms 1814 and Feb 1815.He continued to serve as Justice for more than 30 years.He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Legislature from Union County from 1836-1838.He was one of the first trustees of Mifflinburg Academy.Henry was first listed as a resident of Mifflinburg in 1808.He was a hatter or maker of men’s fine hats by trade.
