Hi Julia.
Thank you so much for the info concerning your Yearsley family. VERY excited to hear from you! IF your Grandfather Joseph was the younger brother of my husbands Great Grandfather, Thomas Aloysius, then you and he are cousins about 4 times removed!! The date I have for G.Grandfather Josephs birth is 1872 in Manchester. Do your records tally with that?
If the aforementioned Joseph is the same chap then I can help you back a generation or two. Hold tight............another Joseph (b.1837) was the father of Gr.Grandad Joseph (that makes 3 in line!) and he married Ellen Yates (b.1844). This Joseph was a Printer/Compositor in 1871, living in Wigan with Thomas (aged 3) and Mary (aged 2).Joseph Junior obviously came along some time after!
We have a fantastic photo of Joseph and Ellen sitting outside their house looking wonderfully Victorian which I'll gladly send you a copy of.
Further back Joseph was the son of Thomas, who died prior to 1864. I'm on the trail of his father but not quite there yet, so that takes us back to about 1800ish.
Would be delighted to know anything about your 2 Josephs........how fantastic your Grandfather is 92. Has he written his memoires? Will stop now but do keep in contact! Lots more to tell.
