Wow, small world.

My wife is a Yearwood, her father was (now deceased) from Barbados.We are in the UK.

It would be interesting to know if there is any relationship between the those mentioned in this thread.

My wifes father, afro carribean, named Rufus Alfonsa YEARWOOD, born circa 1921, Barbados. Mother named (we think) Carlotta Virginia?, Rufus had siblings John, Vaughan, Percy, Doreen, all stayed in Barbados.

I have tried (unsuccesfully) before to trace the names of Yearwoods and the tree, and as far as i can gather and i see, ashas been mentioned elswhere in this forum, the [black]Yearwoods assummed the name of their slave masters during the time of the Atlantic Slave trade of the mid to late 1800's, quite shocking,disturbing and deplorable.However the contents of this forum, new to my wife & I, make interesting reading.
