Bob, this is a very old post and I am not sure you will get this. I have come across a document mentioning William Yearwood and Francis Whittow owning land in Virginia by way of a patent dated 29 July 1650. The land was subsequently given to another in 1664 as the land was deserted. Below is an extract from the document.
[John Weir is mentioned in the following deed as having patented land on 26 June 1666.Through conveyances it came into the possession of Richard Shippy, father of Priscilla Shippy (wife of Henry Metcalfe) and Phoebe Shippy (wife of John Turner).They sold the land to Edward Barrow 20 Feb 1717.....]
[Capt. John Weire, 11 Nov 1664. Now know ye that the said Sir William Berkely Knight Governor do give and grant unto Captain John Weire six hundred and sixty Acres of Land on the North side of Rappahonnock River next above the land called Colemans running along the said Land East unto the Woods One hundred and sixty chains, thence North One hundred and sixty chains to the head of a little Creek and along the said Creek West unto the River One hundred and sixty Chains, then south along the River to the place where it first began and forty acres still due, for forty acres in the Certificate The said Land being formerly granted unto William Yearwood and Francis Whittow by patent dated the twenty ninth of July one thousand six hundred and fifty and granted to the said Weir as deserted land by Order of the General Court dated the twenty fifth of November One Thousand six hundred & sixty four. To Have and To Hold & To Be Held & Yielding and Paying & provided and dated the twenty sixth day of November one thousand six hundred sixty four.]
