It's been over 7-8 years since we "talked" about my connection to the Yeatman family through Josephine Gilmore(1833-1912) who m. Albert Yeatman(1831-1888)You were able to provide me with a lot of information, and I'm hoping maybe you can do so again.
Currently, I'mtrying to determine which Yeatman arranged for a memorial stone to be placed in High Bridge Cem. in Rockbridge Co. VA (near Lexington. The stone was probably placed sometime after 1928.
The memorial stone in question lists only three couples: James Gilmore and his wife, Martha Dennison; their son Joseph and his first wife, Susannah Paxton; and Jos. and Susannah's son Paxton and Paxton's wife, Sarah Irvine. Since there were many other family members, including Joseph's 2nd wife, it seems whoever arranged for the stone must have been a descendant of Paxton and Sarah.Their only children to marry and have children were Salina Gilmore(1829-1877) who m. John Rowland, and Josphine Paxton Gilmore (1833-1912) who was the mother of Elizabeth Patterson Yeatman, Mary Yeatman, Josphine Gilmore Yeatman and others.
I suspect it was Josephine Gilmore Yeatman who arranged for the stone. I do know she became afamily researcher and DAR member. I have copies of letters and research she sent to her Gilmore cousins ca. 1912, and at that time, was researchingher Gilmore ancestry.
Reason for my search is to prove/disprove dobs listed on the memorial stone.Any help much appreciated.
