I have a family photograph as a postcard print postmarked 11-30am 11th December 1909 in Colorado Springs showing a woman (age late 20's/ 30's) plus two girls (aged circa 8/10)standing with 2 snowmen in a suburban street. The card is addressed to George Yeomans, Horsley, Near Derby, England and bears the handwritten greeting of 'Best wishes for a merry Xmas'
In the same collection of family photgraphs there is also one dated 1936 showing a view of two males plus one female on the veranda of what is definitely not a UK home (outward opening flyscreen door visible in background)and could well be in the USA. The female has some likeness to the one shown on the 1909 picture.
With the lack of any name of the sender on the 1909 card I conclude that the persons shown on the picture must have been readily recognisible to George Yeomans (born 1878) and my first suspicion is that this is one of his sisters that had married and migrated from Derbyshire to the USA. If so the sister's first name could be Annie (Born 1871), Elizabeth (b abt 1880, )Ellen (b abt 1882) or Mary (b abt 1885)
If this rings bells with anyone I would be pleased to hear more
