My great-grandfather is Alexander F. Yerby. He was born in Fayette,Al in 1841. He enlisted in the confederate Army June the 11th 1861 at the Fayette Co. court house. He enlisted in the 11th Alabama volinteers. About a year later, he was transfered to the 26th Alabama volinteers.After the war ended,he moved to Hickory Flat,Ms, where he married Mary Beard.About 1881,he died.Mary Beard and her childern Arthur Frank Yerby,Thomas Yerby moved from New Albany,MS to the area of Van Buren,AR.
My father James D. Yerby Sr.,told me stories of a man he called Uncle Sam. His name was Sam Beard.He had a hand shot off as a younger man. He wore a metal ring on the stub of that arm. His brothers name was Lee Loring Beard.
Our family owned property in Florsville,TX,Wilson Co.Its was called the L.L.Beard estate.It was sold in about 1962.Oil rights were maintained to some degree.

Glad to find a family member,my part of the family left the south after the Civil War ended,and slowly moved there way across the United States to California and lost contact with our family and roots in the deep south.
