Looking for anyone connected to or have incidental information on George and his family.
*My ggg-grandmother was Nancy Yerby born 1925 in Georgia.
*She married Thomas Brooke in Thomas County Georgia in 1844 (transcribed Georgia marriage index misread her name as Yertz). They moved to Hamilton County Florida by 1850 and on to Volusia County Florida by 1860 where they raised a large family.
*George and his family and the family of a William Yerby resided in Thomas County Georgia in 1840 but George is the only one with a daughter fitting Nancy's Birth year.
*George and William were born 1790-1800 in South Carolina.I assume they were brothers.
*so far I have not identified George or William in either the 1830 or 1850 census in Georgia or elsewhere.
*There are a group of Yerby families in Clarke and Madison Counties in the northern part of Georgia.I suspect George and William are related to them and may have decided to find their own fortunes by moving south and may have been part of a group of Yerby families that are in Alabama by 1850.
*Thomas and Nancy named their first son after Thomas's brothers and their second son was named George Crawford which I assume was at least for the first name after her father (Thomas was previously married and his only son by the first marriage carried on a family tradition of naming the eldest son Thomas Brooke)
*the name Crawford also shows up as both a given and a middle name in several descendants (from census & online family trees) of Burrell or Burwell Yerby of Clarke County Georgia - additing to my suspicion that George and William may be of this family.
Can anyone add to these facts, verify or disprove the assumptions with more concrete evidence?I would love to share info.
