My grandmother was Gladys Marie Yoho Longwell (married to Floyd Longwell), and lived in Mineral Wells, Wood County, West Virginia.Gladys was born in Mineral Wells. She died on May 27, 1928, in Mineral Wells, age 21, followed by her infant son, who died in her arms within minutes of her death (bronco pneumonia). Her daughter, Mary Grethel Longwell (married name -- Mary Grethel Nicholas -- husband -- Sidney Lee Nicholas), was my mother, born April 12, 1925, in Mineral Wells; died December 5, 1978, age 53.Her home was Briar Hill Farm, near Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
My great-grandfather was Peter Yoho of Mineral Wells. He was a farmer and died in 1967.His first wife, my great-grandmother, was Mary Kysor Yoho, of Limestone Hill, near Mineral Wells.Mary died in 1919 of the Spanish influenza.Peter had possibly two brothers and, I believe, at least one sister.Peter's father's name was Jacob Yoho.Jacob's wife's name was Margaret.
Peter and Mary Yoho had five children, Gladys Marie, Wallace, William, Charles, and Ernest Theo Yoho.Peter's second wife, Alice, bore to him one child, Margaret, in 1926.Peter was married a third time to Bessie, and they had no children together.
Many of this group are buried in Mineral Wells, at Big Tygart Cemetery, which is across the road from Big Tygart Methodist Church on the hill.It is very near Interstate 77 (Mineral Wells exit), near Parkersburg, West Virginia.Peter Yoho's farm is at the foot of the hill, around the bend from the church, and is now owned by another family.
I hope that in some small way this will assist someone who may be researching this branch of the Yoho family and what little that I know about it.If anyone could give me any further information about my family, I would greatly appreciate it.
