Abraham Brown was a son of Daniel Brown "I" and Jane Copeland and a grandson of Francis Brown "I" (died 1691/1692 in Essex Co., VA) and Elizabeth (apparently Elizabeth Cole).Per various pieces of surviving information, Abraham and Mary (Tribble) Brown apparently had at least sons who were named Daniel Brown and John Brown (if not some other sons, like a later Abraham Brown "II," a George Brown and/or a Shadrack Brown (see more on them below). There is a court order book record, as I recall, that shows that Daniel Brown was the executor of Abraham Brown's Will (though the Will itself is "lost").It seems essentially certain that the son named John Brown married his cousin Elizabeth Brown (eventually of Culpeper Co., VA).That Mrs. Elizabeth (Brown) Brown was a daughter of Daniel Brown "II" and Elizabeth Coleman, a granddaughter of Francis Brown "II" and Elizabeth Allen and a great-granddaughter of the above-mentioned Francis Brown "I" and Elizabeth Cole.
Note: The above Mrs. Elizabeth (Coleman) Brown was a daughter of Robert Coleman, Junior and Ann Spilsby, and a granddaughter of Robert Coleman, Senior and Elizabeth Grizzell.Shadrack Tribble....a nephew of Mrs. Mary (Tribble) Brown....married a woman who was also named Elizabeth Coleman. That Elizabeth Coleman was a member of the same overall Coleman family, but she was from the "branch" of the Coleman family that moved to Caroline Co., VA at one point.
There were men in Amelia (later Prince Edward Co., VA....PECo) in the 1740s/1750s who were named Daniel Brown, Peter Brown (a known son of the Daniel Brown in Amelia/PECo; perhaps Peter Brown was named for Peter Tribble, the father of Mrs. Mary (Tribble) Brown), Abraham Brown "II," Shadrack Brown (almost certainly named for Shadrack Tribble, who was a nephew of Mrs. Mary (Tribble) Brown) and a George Brown (perhaps named for George Tribble, a brother of Mrs. Mary (Tribble) Brown, and the father of Shadrack Tribble).Several clues suggest that these men were all out of Abraham Brown and Mary Tribble....albeit no "concrete proof" at this time.
There was also a William Brown who was in Amelia/PECo by at least 1740, and he had a son with his wife Elizabeth Unknown who was named John C. Brown. No proof, but this very well may have been the same William Brown who was one of the several men chosen to appraise the estate of Abraham Brown in Caroline Co., VA in 1735 (and also the same William Brown who was in Spotsylvania Co., VA in the late-1720s).Sons and other close family members were not allowed by the court to perform that duty for a deceased parent or close "blood relative."I have a suspicion that this William Brown was a grandson of the APPARENTLY unrelated William Brown of Essex Co., VA (in the mid-late-1600s) who was married to three different women....with one of those three woman being yet another Elizabeth Allen (a daughter of Valentine Allen and Mary Page).I have never been certain of the exact relationship between THAT Elizabeth Allen and the OTHER (but PROBABLY related) Elizabeth Allen who is said to have married the above-referenced Francis Brown "II."Comments/questions?
