Brian, I found your entry about the Younkins family while searching for information about my father's family. My paternal grandmother was Edith Green, who married Earl Younkins. She actually had four children: the Robert you mentioned -- he was her youngest -- my father John Leroy, and two daughters, Ruth and Maude Alice. My Uncle Bob (Robert) was MIA in WWII and eventually declared dead.
I actually met Earl, whom my cousins loved and called Pappa Earl, a couple of timesin the late 1940s.My cousins are all 10+ years older than me and their memories of him are much clearer, but I knew my father loved him and felt the loss when he died.
I realize this is not the focus of your search, since we are not related by blood, but I'll be interested in whatever information you have about Pappa Earl.Certainly he took the place of my grandfather in the lives of Edith's children. In fact, the move to Edinburg, TX, ended up influencing the three eldest to settle there, as well.
