I believe that your Christian was probably the Christian Jüsi/Eusey who was a brother to my Samuel Jüsi/Eusey who also immigrated from Switzerland to Ohio.
I show that this Christian Jüsi/Eusey was born abt. 1810 in the town of Aeschi, Dist. of Frutigen, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. He came to Ohio between 1837 and 1849.W know he married and had a family.I have a list of his childrens' names.I thought that he lived in the area of Galion, Crawford County, Ohio, but do not know.I know that there were Euseys who went to the Indianapolis area.
A "cousin" of mine, Michael Eusey Eckstein, speculated (correctly) that Christian Jüsi came to America (between 1837 and 1850) but knew nothing more, except to note that Christian's children are recorded at Aeschi, Switzerland, although they are not on the "Burgerrodel" of Aeschi, so it appeared that they were not born there and the names were written with English spellings.
I note that this is in conformity with Swiss custom that a citizen of that place (even after he moved away) would have sent the names and births of his children there to be recorded. No further record would have been found, however, unless the subsequent generations kept ties to their ancestral origin and satisfied obligations to maintain citizenship there.
Several members of my family have visted Switzerland over the eyars.Write me and I wll send you a family report.I'd very much like to compare notes with you.
