Alicia and others,
Regarding the spelling of this name:
My great grandmother was a "Eusey"; her family lived in Ohio and Indiana. Her grandfather, Samuel, spelled his name "Jusi" and his brother, Johannes, was the first of our family to change the spelling in Indiana; They came from Switzerland to America in the 1830s with a couple more siblings.
We have had some relation travel back to Switzerland over the years and correspond with "cousins" there. We knew of no other family anywhere else with a surname similar in sound or spelling.
The "Jusi" (some places "Jussi" and "Jusy") family of Switzerland is from the Canton of Bern (not the city of Bern) and seated in the town of Aeschi, district of Frutigen in the Thun Valley. There are a few Jusi people living there still and in the nearby town of Riechenbach. The Canton of Bern is german-speaking, and predominantly Swiss-Reform (my Euseys are all Lutheran) in religion.
Hope that might help someone to find their roots!
