I recently reviewed the birth and death records for the children of Christoph Uhl and Niclaus Uhl in the Evangelische Kirche records in Sulzfeld, Baden [A. Eppingen]. I also looked at all of the records where these men were listed as sponsors. I also briefly looked at the records for the families of other men who are reputed to have been members of the second Germanna colony, e.g. Christoph Zimmerman. While most of the dates and names published in various books and articles about the Uhl family are correct, I did note that some of the "facts" that have been previously published are in error. My hunch is that very few of the authors who have published material on Christoph Uhl and his family have actually examined the "German" records. Most of these authors have probably just copied material from one of the early publications on this family.
Two examples of errors that I noted are listed below:
1. The surname of Christoph Uhl's wife, Eva, is always given in the declined form. 2. Niclaus Uhl's wife was still living in Sulzfeld after Niclaus Uhl was reputed to have left for Virginia with his family.
