The only contact I remember with my Father's (Kenneth Zane) family was when I about 5 years old (Maybe less. It was during the depression and our family was desperate. My Father (Kenneth), my Mother (Myrtle Idella Simpson) and their three kids Burke, Betyy Lou and me (Ronald), all piled into a LaSalle sedan and drove across country to get closer to my Father's family and seek work and support. When we arrived at Isaac Zane's house in Mantua, New Jersey (Isaac being my Father's father), we were not allowed in the house. We wound up staying in a sibling's home in New Jersey (I don't know which one) for a few days. We then went on to Philadelphia and stayed for almost a year sharing another siblings home (again I don't know which one). My Mother worked in a cigar factory during that period. My Father was unable to find work. Finally, we returned to Riverside, Califonia. I believe this was during 1938/39. My parents later had two more daughters. They were Retha Mae Zane and Diana Zane. All of my siblings are still living. The oldest, Betty Lou Chaffee, lives near San Diego, California. The next oldest, Burke Zane, lives in Coarsegold, California. I am the third oldest, Ronald Zane, and I live in Kula, Maui, Hawaii. The next to youngest,Retha Mae Ott lives in Long Beach, California. The youngest, Diana Bryan, lives in Orlando, Florida.
I was born in Riverside, California. Kenneth's Brother Gordon also lived in Riverside, California. I believe Gordon had two sons. My Mother, Myrtle, died in November of 2003 at Long Beach, California. She was 93 years old. My Father, Kenneth, committed suicide, at Colorado Springs, Colorado, in February 1954. He was 47 years old.
