Wish to give 2 old photo's dated 1931 and 1921, what looks to be wedding announcement dated 1913, and other items to proper family.This is not my ancestor but in the belongings of a relative, who owned the home of where Herman Zaugg lived and died.This is what we have learned of him.Social Security shows name as Herman M. Zaugg born Sep 27, 1883 died Oct 15, 1967 Delaware Co. Iowa.His obituary says he was a born in Swizterland and survived by a sister and brother in Switzerland.
1930 census Milo twp., Delaware Co. IA. age 46 b. Switzerland, imigrated in 1912, rented home. living alone, listed as single
1925 Delaware Co. IA. Herman Zaugg b. 1880, CHE (Czech Rep? maybe) name of mother M.M. HIRSCHY born 1855 Czech Rep., name of father JOHN. M. ZAUGG born 1852 Czech Rep. Herman rented home and has been in US 13 yrs (making him here about 1912) and in state of Iowa 13 yrs (so this shows he came to Iowa right after he imigrated so did he have family already here?)
1920 Milo twp., Delaware Co. IA. Herman Zaugg age 38 yrs and he is listed as Widowed, imigrated in 1912 born Switzerland and mother tonge German.
1918 Draft Registration card aded Sep 12, 1918 shows his name as MAURICE HERMAN ZAUGG R.R. Manchester, Delaware CO. IA., he was age 35 and born Sep 27, 1882, listed as Alien and Non Declarant and Native and subject to Switzerland he was medium height, medium built blue eyes and dark hair.
Passengers list for Voyage of Chicago on ship Chicago, arrived April 16, 1912 to Ellis Island, Herman Zaugg 28 yrs old male and single and no other ZAUGG are on this ship list.Natonality Swizerland, German, place of residence given was Cret du Locle, Switzerland, departed from Port Havre, Le havre, Seine-Inferior, France
