We're looking for people to take part in a DNA study to tie together the various Zentz lines.
The study will analyze the Y-chromosome, so only males can participate. Participants must be named Zentz (or Zents or any other spelling variation).
There is a fee involved, to pay for the lab which does the DNA test. The test itself is very easy and painless. It involves a cheek scraping, which is similar to brushing with a soft toothbrush.
We would especially like to hear from Zentzes who live in Alsace, France, as this appears to be the ancestral home. However, any Zentzes anywhere are invited to participate.
We need to have at least 6 people to begin the study. So far we have two people who are interested.
I suspect that all the Zentzes in the US are descended from two brothers, Christian and Peter, who are in Baltimore MD in the 1730s. The DNA test should confirm this theory. If the US families also genetically match the Alsatian families, we will know that the immigrants are from there.
Here's the web site of the company that does the tests. It will tell you more about the process.
