Do you know where in Germany your 'Wilhelm Ziebell' was born? I have been looking for the 'Uncle William' that the two girls were sent to in Wisconsin. Wilhelm of course is German for William. Where is Bloomer? What county is it in and how far is it from Milwaukee? I know the name Ziebell was 'americanized' to siebell by a lot of them after they emigrated...who could blame them? Shortly after living here America was involved in a war w/ the area they came from..most of them still had a lot of family back there to worry about. Anyway it was definitely Ziebell. My own grandmother was told to 'change her name and try to pretend not to be German'. So she often said she was born in Wisconsin, which was just a big whopper because she was scared.
if the two girls were shipped to an 'Uncle William' that would make a Wilhelm Ziebell the brother of Albert Carl Wilhelm Ziebell born back in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein area of Prussia. Have you found your Wilhelm Ziebell on a passenger list to know when he came over?
