Hello, Rita --- My ggg-grandfather was Jacob Zike (Zeuch), a Hessian soldier in our Revolutionary War who changed sides and fought with the Americans after 1777.He married Katherine Avey after the war, moved to Kentucky, and raised his family there. He is said to have enlisted (or been conscripted) in Niederduenzebach (near Eschwege?) in about 1875.He arrived in New York in 1875 as a private in the Erbprinz Reg't (Col. von Cochenhause). There is some thought that his parents MAY have been Johannes Zeuch and Anna Barbara Apel, married 2/12/1744 in Niederduenzebach. If you could possibly confirm this, or identify his true parents, there are a number of Zike cousins who would be very, very greatful.
