Hello Claudia, Randy Hyde getting back with you, Naturalization papers recently found state our Zilch's were from Klein Koslau in eastern Prussia. the city is now known as Kozlowko Poland. My Family arrived in New York April 24, 1886 on a ship called the Katie. Hermann age 32, Anna his wife age 30, 3 cildren , A daughter Auguste age 6, 2 sons, Julius age 3 and Friedrich age 6 months. They were traveling with Johann Patzer, Anna's brother or cousin, anna's maiden name was Patzer. Ann's father came here too however his name does not appear on the ship's manafest. Hermann and Anna had 2 more sons, Rudolf and Wilhelm, and 2 daughters, Minna and Emma. Minna was my grandmother on my mother's side of the family. The Zilch's with 4 other families founded the town of Hamlet Indiana in Starke County. They also founded St. Mattheus Lutheran Church which is still there. Minna married the pastor's son Gerhardt Trulzsch umlaut over the U. They had a daughter, Elaine July 20,1917.
