OBITUARY FOR W. J. ZILLMAN Clatskanie, Columbia Co., Oregon, The Clatskanie Chief, Friday, May 2, 1941 Death takes W. J. Zillman Funeral services will be Saturday for fifty year resident.Death came early Wednesday morning (12:30 a.m.) and took W. J. Zillman, a resident of this community for over half a century. Last Sunday he suffered a stroke at the home of Mrs. Azelie Duke, his daughter with whom he had been living and from which he had failed to rally. William Julian Zillman was born in Will county, Illinois on June 29th 1858.When a young man he migrated west and settled in this locality where he had since made his home. Shortly after his arrival here, he was united in marriage to Martha Ellen Stratton on July 9, 1892 and to this union were born two children, Mrs. Azelie Duke and Walter Zillman.His wife passed away March 14, 1903 and July 16, 1906 he married Cora Anna Carroll and they had three children, Mrs. Dorothy Brewer of Centralia, Mrs. Bertha Buchanan of Warrenton and Bill Zillman of Centralia. He is survived by the children mentioned above; a sister, Mrs. Elise Leggo of Santa Monica Calif. and three brothers; Dr. A. W. Zillman of Keytesville, MO; C. C. H. Zillman, a Chicago attorney; and Harry G. Zillman of Carlsbad , New Mexico. Mr. Zillman was always active in community affairs.When he first came to Oregon he with Harry Buzzing, lately a single inspector, operated a shingle mill on the upper Clatskanie. Then he engaged in farming at least two terms as road supervisor in addition to taking several road-building contracts.He was a life long Democrat and was always interested in Party affairs. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Clatskanie Presbyterian Church with Rowan A. O'Brien officiating.Interment will be made at Maplewood cemetery.Arthur Anderson Funeral Parlors are in charge of the services.
