Obituary: Alphonse Zmudzinski

"Mr. Alphonse Zmudzinski
"Mr. Alphonse J. "Big Al" Zmudzinski, 73, of Frederick, died Sunday, Nov. 28, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
"He was the husband of Ruth Parkhurst Zmudzinski.
"Born Sept. 27, 1926, in Erie, Pa., he was a son of the late Antoni and Annette Dombrowski Zmudzinski.
"Mr. Zmudzinski retired after many years of service with East Coast Telecommunications Center at Fort Detrick.
"He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944 to 1952.
"He was a member of Frederick Elks Lodge 684, where he had served as Tiler since 1987. He was also a member of American Legion Post 11, Frederick; National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 409, and American Federation of Government Employees Local 2484.
"Surviving in addition to his wife are one son; Thomas Zmudzinski and wife Judy of Fort Washington; two daughters, Irene Bailey and husband Walter of Jefferson and Teresa Gallion and husband James of Walkersville; three grandchildren, Steven Gallion, a senior at University of Southern California, Angie Bailey of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mason Bailey, a student at Oklahoma University, Norman, Okla.; one sister, Mary Wisinski of Erie; one brother, Stanley Zmudzinski and wife Julia of Beacon, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
"Memorial services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, with the Rev. Burnis D. Barrett officiating. The family will receive friends at the Elks Lodge of Frederick following the services.
"In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick Elks Lodge 684, 289 Willowdale Drive, Frederick, Md. 21702."
