Margaretha Speilmann (daughter of Johann George Speilmann and Anna Maria Mary Shrink) was born November 07, 1818 in Malmsheim, Wurrtemberg Germany, and died May 20, 1903 in Marysville Marshall Co. KS.She married Charles Henry Travelute on November 22, 1840 in Moreland Twp. Lycoming Co, PA, son of Andrew Travelute and Effie Eve Christina. Travelute page 488 "Margarete (Spealmann) Travelute was born in Wurtemburg, Germany on November 6, 1818 and was the daughter of John and Mary Spealmann. The parents came to PA when the daughter, Margurete was but a child and later went to IL, where they died. Margurete Spealmann grew to womanhood in PA and there complete her education in the common schools and was later married to Charels H. Travelute. Some years later she and her husband located in IL and the in Marshall Co. KS where she died on May 20, 1902." 1900 Marysville Twp. Marshall Co. Butler, Wednesday morning, May 20, '03 at 5:15 o'clock, Margaret Travelute Aged 84 years, 5 months and 13 days. Funderal will be from the residence of G.C. Butler Tuesday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m. Friends of the family invited. Margaret died of 1210 May St., Marysville KS, the home of Effie and G. C. Butler. She was buried in Deer Creek Cemetery during a flood on May 26th. "Disastrous flood of 1903" describes the Blue River watershed flood that occurred on 26 May 1903. It states that "At one place northwest of town the river rose so fast that it separated the funeral procession of Mrs. Margaret Travelute which was enroute to Deer Creek Cemetery. The pall bearers managed to cross a slough through which the procession was traveling and was closely followed by the hearse which just got across.
