The main lines of investigation are:
ARBER - the branch goes back to our sixth great grandparents, John and Martha, who married around 1714 and lived in Burwell, Cambridgeshire. The earlier generations were mainly occupied as Bricklayers, but our third great grandfather Benjamin Arber became a miller and bought his own windmill in the late 1850's at Littleport, Cambridgeshire.
GREEN - Miners from Staffordshire. Robert Green married Mary Fairfield in 1841.The children were born in Tamworth, but most of the family had settled in Yorkshire by 1900.
HOWGATE - our line goes back to William Howgate who married Susannah Wilson in 1781 and lived in Dewsbury until their deaths. Their descendants now stretch across the world.
JARVIS - The Jarvis line so far begins with James Jarvis, a chef, born in Lambeth in 1849.His son was born in Leicester and the next line in Huddersfield.
MARTIN - Originate in Sheffield 1843 with Joseph.
SPENCER - John Thomas Spencer married Mary Jane Wright in Lincolnshire c 1880.
WHITTAKER - This line seems to have been all over.James Whittaker born in Cheshire, married Mary Nicholls in 1868 in Hereford, then returned to Lancashire. My grandfather and great grandfather eventually settled in Huddersfield.
WILKINSON -George Wilkinson was a weaver from Thurstone in Yorkshire. His son Allen, my great great grandfather stayed in the area and married Sarah Ann Silverwood from Penistone.
