Erik I the Evergood (1095-1103)
Born abt 1056. Father: King Svend II. He became King upon the death of his brother. He was a brave king, who was successful both in war and peace. He conquered Holstein and Rugen. At the meeting at Kongahalla in 1101, he arranged the peace between King Inge the Elder of Sweden and King Magnus Barefoot of Norway. He persuaded the Pope to canonize his brother, Knud II, and to create an archdoicy for the Nordic countries in Lund. Erik I was associated with Bothilde Thorgautsdottir, Children: Knud, Lavard, Erik II, Ragnhild, Harald. He died on July 10, 1103 on a pilgrim journey to Palestine
