My genealogy efforts are dedicated to my genealogy mentor: JOHN CHARLES ARENS 1909-2003. I still speak to him often. I am trying to carry some of John's massive collection into the digital world. Many other relatives have also contributed much to the digital collection. Part of that collection is online here. For safety, I frequently backup everything in triplicate onto three additional external hard drives.
At the bottom of this page you'll find a 264 page document with an alphabetical list of about 30,000 my known kinfolk as of October 10, 2009. About 20,000 of them are still living and therefore 'privatized' without a name or birth date. You may be one of them - I am. After you click on the title of the document it takes a few minutes for all of the 264 pages to reveal themselves. I'm hoping you'll find the name of your deceased relative(s) in this list and contact me so that I can add your deceased (and privatized living) line of relatives to this list. email@example.com
All of LaVae's ancestors are German. Seven of my eight great-grandparents were born in Luxembourg. The eighth was born in nearby Altenburg, Germany.I would love to receive additional genealogy data and make contact with kinfolk.
I've added 89 old family photos of unknown people and places that have been handed down to me. As time goes by, they are becoming 'knowns' - thank you. Check them out to see if can help convert some 'unknowns' into 'knowns'.
WOW .... in September 2007, after 28 years of searching, I finally found my grandfather's combined baptism and adoption record at 1:17 PM on September 27, 2007. He was born in July 1892 as "Smith" and baptized and adopted by Jacob Remackel at Arcadia, IA on January 27, 1893 as "Franciscum". So, now I'm searching for the birth parents of FRANK SMITH born July 5, 1892.
My first ARENS relative came from Olm, Luxembourg to St. Donatus, IA in 1847. He was the widower of Anne-Marie Heimes 1773-1840, Nicholas Arens 1775-1853. He was the oldest son of Nicholas Arens 1742-1816 and Catharine Hoffmann 1749-1814. He came with his son-in-law, Peter Siren who was married to his daughter, Susanna Arens.
