I am just starting to research the family of Atherton.So far I have been able to trace back only to 1842.The most common given names appear to be John and James either as a pair or singly.
I have traced family ancesters from Lanchahire and Writtle in Essex.
I really need to find any connection with the following:
Emma JOEL who married John Atherton in Warton, Lancaster.
Samuel and Harriett LINDSELL who's daughter Alice married John James Atherton.
