On July 12, 1825, James Atkinson married Martha Greenhill "Patsey" Faulkner, daughter of Nicholas Faulkner of Lincoln Co., North Carolina. Their children were Nancy, Nicholas, Lucy, Susanna, John Frances, and William. Nicholas Faulkner Atkinson moved to Bartow Co., Georgia around 1850, where he married Elizabeth Abernathy, and joined Co H, 18th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry in 1861. The children of Nicholas and Elizabeth Atkinson were Easel, Simon, Arinda, Cindy, Hardy, Isham, Lindsay, Rosa, Taylor, and Fanny. Hardy Atkinson married Mary F. Hulsey in 1887, and their children were Minnie, Trannie, Andrew, Renda, Beulah, and Judson. Andrew Jackson Atkinson married Lou Magdalene Shuler in 1922 and they moved to Irwin Co., Georgia about 1930. Their children were Willard, Dillard (my father),and Fred. In 1755, William Killgore, Sr. petitioned for and received 200 acres of land at the mouth of Fishing Creek, about 60 miles north of Augusta, Georgia. He had a wife, Sarah, and three children, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Robert. William Killgore, Sr. fought in the Revolutionary War under Col. Elijah Clark, and he and Sarah had four more children, John, William, Jr., Sarah, and Mary Ann. William Killgore, Jr, married Anne Higginbotham in 1791, moved to Putnam Co., Georgia and died there in 1812. His children were Robert, Joseph, William, Samuel, Thursey, and Simeon. Robert Greer Killgore settled in Haralson Co., Georgia, where he had 21 children by 2 wives, Mary Maroney and Elizabeth Talley. His son, William K. Kilgore, married Margaret Barnett in 1840, moved to Cleburne Co, Alabama, and had 10 children. Robert Lafayette Kilgore married Josephine Nunnally. Their children were Margaret, James, Robert, Perry, Elisha, Dotson, and Mary.Dotson Bennett Kilgore married Sarah Irene Dryden in 1900, and they moved to Irwin Co, Georgia. Their children were William, Maybelle, Mary, James, Gordon, Rosa Lee, and George. William Lafayette Kilgore married Erma Cavenaugh in 1924, and their children were William, James, Betty Latrelle (my mother), and Lamar. I am researching these branches of the Atkinson and Kilgore families and other related families.
