1.JAMES1 SEATON was born Abt. 1740, and died 1823.He married (1) MARY SAMANTHA HERRIOT.He married (2) FANNIE BOZZLE. Notes for JAMES SEATON: Born in Scotland, year not known. 1760 James Seaton was living in Stafford Co. VA which was the birthplace of his son Benjamin, in 1768. In 1769 he was listed as owning 200 acres in Greene Co. on the north side of the French Broad River. This list was developed at the request of President George Washington, through his Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, to determine how many settlers were in the western lands given back to the United States by the State of North Carolina in 1789. Possibly James was a Revolutionary soldier using scrip issued in payment for his services with which to buy his land. There is a will for James Seaton who died in Limestone Co. Ala. in 1823. On the bottom it was signed by Moses so he apparently was James son. Children of JAMES SEATON and MARY HERRIOT are:
BENJAMIN SEATON, b. 1768, Stafford Co, VA; d. 08 December 1858, Greene Co, TN.
JOHN SEATON, b. 1770.
Notes for JOHN SEATON: May have moved to Indiana after marrying in Greene Co, TN.
ELIZABETH SEATON, b. 1780.
JAMES SEATON, b. 1783; m. JANE GRAHAM.
GEORGE SEATON, b. 1784; m. ELIZABETH GRAHAM.
Notes for GEORGE SEATON: Posted by Lyndle Seaton on April 12, 1998 at 21:48:15: In Reply to: Re: SEATON FAMILY posted by Sherry Cook on April 12, 1998 at 07:09:56: The date of birth for each was obtained from 1850 census in TN. the children i listed are all together in Greene co. Roane co. TN. around 1805. I am off George Seaton b 1784 he is my direct line. He was married to Elizabeth Graham in Greene Co. 1804 his supposed brother was James b1783 and he married Jane Graham. they next went to Roane co. TN. in 1805 with deeds tracing them to there. later in 1810 and 1811 they are with Moses b 1767 va. in Madison Ala. Benjamin as you know stayed in Greene co. there is a will for James Seaton who died in limestone co. Ala. in 1823 on the bottom it was signed by Moses so he apparently was James son. James was on the tax list in Montgomery co. Viar. 1787 with apparently his son Benjamin. next there is a marriage of Moses to Rosanna martin that same year in Montgomery Co. James got a grant in 1791 in Jefferson co. TN.( present day Greene co). there is not a lot of proof for this line but what puts them together is being in the same place at the same time. my George and his brother moved to Lincoln TN. about 1830s. I believe Willam b 1786 moved to Missouri and john b1770 moved to Indiana after marrying in Greene co.
