The land was originally part of 202 acres owned by Arthur Avera, in the Glades/Harmony area of North Putnam County,GA. I found this cemetery in 2001, and have restored it. It was extremely overgrown with brush and trees, and the tombstones were all damaged. There were only 2 tombstones that could be saved. Buried there are Sarah Ann Avery, Thomas Stuart Robins, Joseph Avery (their son), William A. Avery (my grandfather), and his son Lucius Robins Avery. The cemetery is located on Littles Rd., 1 mile north of the intersection of Littles Rd and Harmony Rd, north of Eatonton, GA., and sits on top of a hill about 2000 feet back from the road behind a farmhouse. - Arthur Avera's family cemetery more photos (290 KB)
A second photo of this cemetery on Arthur Avera's land in Putnam County, GA. Although no one knows for sure, as all the graves were unmarked, I believe that this was the "main" cemetery, so to speak, for all the Avery family members who died in Putnam County between 1810-1880. There has never been another Avery cemetery found, to date, on any other land owned by any Avery family memeber there. Also, there are probably graves belonging to his deceased slaves, and possibly to some Ingram family memebers. The Ingrams and Averys were long time friends, and there were several marriages between them.
