Of Wellsboro, Tioga Co., PA. Private Co. F 1sst Regiment NY Light Artillery. Elisted Sept 10, 1861. Discharged Jan 23, 1864
Application filed Dec. 31, 1879 for pension. Of Millerton, Tioga Co. on 4 March 1884.
Of Jackson, Tioga Co. PA on 4 June 1883. His brother O. D. Bly and OD's wife Susan made statements.
"while a member of the organization aforesaid in the Service and in the line of his duty at Yorktown in the State of VA on or about the 20th day of August AD 1862, he contracted liver complaint and Jaundice and feaver and ague caused by drinking bad water and exposure to rain while building fortifications and climatic changes that he was sick and entirity excused from duty for about three months and for out two months was unable any duties whatsoever...."
On a petition by Charles Bly said "That for more than tem years before his enlistment into the federal army he lived on a farm in Wells Township, Bradford Co., PA. a little more than one year before the war his wife having died he left his farm and went to live with O. D. Bly his brother in Tioga Co., Pa. that he remained there until he enlisted in the army and up to this time he had enjoyed good health all the time doing hard labor on a farm."
