Notes for Jesse Pennock:
• Note: All of his brothers also served in the militia and all chose to be Loyalist and enlist in "Gentleman Johnny" Burgoyne's British troops. James kept his rank as Captain, his brother, Samuel, as a Lieutenant and Aaron, as Sargeant. In 1777 the eight Pennock brothers plus one nephew, Alexander, fought for their King and Church. James, Jesse and William were killed in the Battle of Saratoga in Oct. 1777. After the war Jeremiah, and later Samuel emigrated to Canada, as did about 70,000 other Loyalist. Jeremiah was killed (?) the following year. The others returned to Strafford.
