My maiden name is Sheahan possibly spelt Sheehan prior to crossing the atlantic. My grandmother and Father are from Ireland. Denis"Long Den" Sheahan is from Middleton;my Grandmother Alice O'Brien is from Cobh,both in Cork County.My Mother's maiden name was Weiss, possibly spelt Weisz prior to crossing the Atlantic. Surnames I have run across in the family tree are as follows: Weiss; O'Shaunghessy; Ryan; Saar;Eckardt;Wilson;Graham;Bringmann;Sheridan;Kocsis. I am married to a Bringmann from NY city. Looking to add to the family history. My mother's side is of German heritage, my father's Irish.Both sides settled in NY after immigrating to USA. Other relevant data: My grandfather was a member of the original IRA in Ireland,he served during and after the Easter Uprising, used the name Denis or "Long Den". Story has it he was an assasin.Served time in Limerick Prison.Worked for the transit authority (IRT) for several years in NY. My grandmother Alice, was a singer, had her own radio show in the late 20's to mid 30's. Worked for Mayor Wagner's Father as a cook. Owned a family candy store in Rockaway Beach,NY My grandmother arrived after WWI in 1919 w/her 2 sister's Mary and Kitty. she has in total 12 siblings,she herself had 3 children,my father Denis St.John Sheahan, being the eldest. I am the oldest of 6. Denise, Padric Brian, Katrina, Virginia, John Arthur, and Thomas. My grandfather's family is unknown to me. My mother is a Weiss from Brooklyn, her father's name was Arthur Jacob, her mother Catherine Louise Saar. Any help would be very much appreciated.I am very willing to share any and all data found.
